The waves crashing behind them made it impossible for anyone to hear Drew and Lane’s vows. But we didn’t need to hear. We could see in the redness of Lane’s nose and the tears rolling down Drew’s cheeks that they both had something special to say. When they repeated their vows later for their guests it wasn’t just the words, but the way they looked at each other as they promised to love each other that hushed the closest people in their lives.
Drew, Lane, and their family are those welcoming souls who make everyone feel like long lost friends. Even though I knew Drew once upon a time, I haven’t seen her in years and I’d never met Lane. In the year leading up to their wedding, though, I started to feel like I’ve always known them, and as if I had had the opportunity to watch their whole love story unfold.
That night we all heard about the few weeks leading up to Drew and Lane’s first date, we heard about their proposal in the rain, and their first-time homeowner disaster stories, but we were all a part of the next chapter of their lives together.
Congratulations Drew and Lane!
