What Size Of Print Do I Need?
Choosing the right size of print can make or break your gallery wall. Because they have no idea where to start, most of my clients ask me what the price is for “an 8×10 inch print.” After all, that is the standard size they’ve heard about their whole lives. But imagine sitting on your couch and staring at a big, beautiful photograph above your fireplace. Now imagine that that photograph is 8×10 inches (smaller than your standard piece of paper). That’s just too small.
Lucky for us, my process is designed to help you choose the exact right size of print for your home. Whether that is a single print for your fireplace, a gallery wall for your dining room, or portable gifts for the people closest to you, I’ll help you choose the size you need during your photo premiere. In fact, I can even show you what your prints will look like in the spaces you want to fill with them.
In the meantime, here is an easy guide to get you started thinking about what sizes you need.
Side Tables, Desks, and Shelves
These pieces should be small. After all, they’re going in a space which serves another practical purpose. So when your photos are sharing a surface with computers, lamps, or books, it’s best to keep your prints on the smaller-size.

Kitchen and Den Walls
Open-concept floorplans and cupboards monopolizing walls can leave us with little wall space to play within these areas of the home. So you’ll likely choose to feature family prints on small sections of wall. For that reason, medium-sized prints are best in these spaces for brightening up spaces that were previously mostly ignored.

Fireplaces and Couches
To fully fill the space above your fireplace or couch, you’ll need large prints. These are great spots for your candid family photos set in epic landscapes. Your photos will be so large that you’ll be able to clearly see your faces while enjoying the scenery around you. Remember that choosing a print which is too small will look unbalanced in thes spaces.
