21 Love Songs for the Tone Deaf

Music quite literally sets the tone of any given situation. It’s the ambiance to your first date, it’s the backdrop to your first kiss, and it’s the soundtrack to your first few steps down the aisle. The right love songs, with a melodies that makes you move and words that give you goosebumps, can make a moment one you’ll remember for the rest of your life. But the wrong song can make it a moment you’d rather forget.

With that in mind, how do you pick the absolute perfect song for your absolute perfect moment? I know how important it is that you pick the right song for your wedding, and I know how hard you’ve worked on that playlist for your extra special Valentine’s night. For those reasons I’ve put together a little list of ultimate love songs. Play any of these songs to show your sweetheart how you really feel.

Contemporary Love Songs

These songs, with only a few exceptions, are fun and upbeat. If you’re looking to build a list for a playful date, these tunes are a great place to start. I play them in heavy rotation because they’ll elevate any mood.

Hand On Heart by Olly Murs

Hey There by Serena Ryder

I’m Yours by Jason Mraz

Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars

Make a New Dance Up by Hey! Ocean
“Make a New Dance Up” actually makes me want to make a new dance up! I’m always dancing listening to this song. At my desk, in the car, in my livingroom… if this song is playing, I’m moving! Play this and you and your sweetie will be boogying in no time.

Something I Need by OneRepublic

The Light by Sara Bareilles

Vintage Love Songs

These are classics and I’m sure you’ve heard all of them many times over by many different artists. Switch on any of these songs when you want to slow things down (except for maybe Bobby McFerrin; play him when you want to heat things up).

At Last by Etta James
If you’re looking for the theme song to your vintage wedding, look no further than Etta James. She gives me chills with this song. Serenade your sweetheart with this one to throw the romance into overdrive.

Good Lovin’ by Bobby McFerrin

Have I Told You Lately That I Love You? by Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters

Hymne a l’amour by Edith Piaf

L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole

Stand By Me by Ben E King

The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra

Retro Love Songs

Some might call them cheesy, but no list of love songs is complete without these retro gems. I’m sure each of you can hum the tune to one, if not all of these. And I bet for many they bring back fond memories. Play any of these to make any moment picture perfect.

All You Need Is Love by the Beatles

Don’t Want To Miss a Thing by Aerosmith

Heaven by Bryan Adams

I’ll Be by Edwin McCain

Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel
No, the Bruno Mars version wasn’t a cover. Billy Joel has his own version of “Just The Way You Are” which he wrote for his first wife. In true Billie Joel fashion, it’s smooth. This song will make you feel like you’re living in a film.

Kathy’s Song by Simon & Garfunkel

Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
